🥇 Community Villain Deck Winner + Reddit AMA

The Community Has Spoken!
The first Community-Choice Dreadquarters expansion deck will be The Corporation.
Last week, we unlocked one of our most exciting stretch goals: A community-designed expansion for Dreadquarters! The first deck in this expansion is a villain deck, and we put it to a vote, which came down to the wire with 3 concepts cutting it incredibly close!
We're happy to announce that the next villain deck will be The Corporation, (squeaking by and winning by a single vote over Dinosaurs and Aliens). We don't have any art to share for this deck yet, because this deck will be designed alongside the community on our Discord server.
Will it actually be called "The Corporation"? What will the core mechanics be? What will it command? Will it be a dark and serious take on corrupt organizations, or a buzzword-infested satire of corporate life? What will the art inspirations be? Join the conversation and help it take shape!
As we design this deck together, we will commission unique card frames and dozens of original illustrations from human artists, just like we did for every other deck in Dreadquarters. This isn't something we were holding up our sleeves for an inevitable reveal - we truly want your input, and we're willing to put our money where our mouth is to prove it.
Reddit AMA
Last thing (at least for now): We will be hosting an AMA on Reddit at /r/boardgames on Thursday, June 11, at 11am EST. Come join us and ask us anything about Dreadquarters, game design, our experience with developing and launching a game like this, discuss the game mechanics for different decks, chat about your ideas for future decks, or whatever you might think of!

Next Strech Goal Reached!
We are feeling so excited about reaching the next stretch goal in the Community Expansion Build! Just absolutely blown away not only by the support, but by your ideas! You are all going to help make Dreadquarters that much better by offering up ideas on what you'd like to see in this board game. Can't wait to see these decks realized.

Community Voting Event
$64k also unlocked the next community expansion voting event - a Community Choice Hazard Deck! Drop your idea (limit one idea per person, please! We will not consider ideas from those who submit more than one) in the comments of this update for what you'd like the next Hazard Deck to be. Here are a few examples of our current Hazard Decks:
The HOA What if your evil fortress was subject to Homeowners Association bylaws and regulations? This hazard deck forces players to adapt to rapidly changing requirements and occasionally exploit the odd loophole.

Insolence What if your minions weren't exactly the most loyal or competent? When the Insolence hazard deck is in play, your minions behave more erratically. Sometimes they'll show initiative and go above and beyond without being asked, and sometimes they'll dismantle your finely calibrated traps to build a break room.

Weather The Weather Hazard Deck impedes and aids invaders with extreme weather events on their way to your lair. Perhaps they'll arrived exhausted and be easier to defeat, or maybe a tornado will disrupt your carefully laid plans.

Siegecraft Sometimes invaders aren't just angry villagers. Once in a while, they're highly trained tacticians. The Siegecraft Hazard Deck allows invaders to adopt military and siege tactics when approaching your lair.

Power Struggle Cooperating as villains isn't always easy, and sometimes the biggest dangers to your lair aren't external. The Power Struggle Hazard Deck forces you to rethink how you approach and fortify your allies' territory. While you might be feeling cooperative, your minions might have their own ideas.

City Deck Poll
In the meantime, below is the poll that includes Paul and Dan's choices from the community submitted City Deck ideas. These were some of our favorite concepts pulled from your submissions.

There were so many great ideas! But we had to make the hard choices when narrowing things down based on overall fit with Dreadquarters, as well as avoiding overlap with content we're already developing, and making sure each option offers a strong, distinct gameplay identity.
Just because an idea didn’t make this poll doesn’t mean it wasn’t awesome. Many were very close calls, and we had to make some tough decisions to keep things focused and cohesive.

Here are the final options for the community City Deck. These are temporary names - We'll let the community weigh in via Discord.
1. Permafrost (Prehistoric City) 2. Innsmouth (Lovecraftian Invaders) 3. Sunken City (Inspired by Atlantis or R'lyeh) 4. Brinewick (Pirate City) 5. Tombstone (Wild West)
Whichever option receives the most votes will be made into a full City Deck. We’ll commission original art and bring the concept to life. We'll also have design discussions, iteration, and playtesting happening for this deck in our Discord, so make sure to join in!
Next Stretch Goal
Our next unlock will happen at $68k! Once we hit this number, we'll release our picks from your submissions for the next Hazard Deck for a final community choice poll. AT $68k, we'll also be unlocking a "Second Chance" Community Deck - more details when we get there!
As always, thank you all so much for your support! Talk more soon!

🛑 NEW VILLAIN DECK UNLOCKED + Next Stretch Goal Teaser

New Stretch Goal Unlocked
Dreadquarters passed $52k last night. You guys are insanely awesome. Though, admittedly, your thirst for villainy is making these milestones seem more like warning signs...should we be concerned? Blink once if you are okay. Blink twice if you've pledged your soul to the darkness.
Either way, you've unlocked the next stretch goal:
The Failsafe Villain Deck
The Failsafe Villain Deck is a living facility able to adapt to new threats, The Failsafe is able to continuously reconfigure its layout and lay unexpected and deadly traps for invaders. This villain's unique play style bends the rules of the game by allowing you to rapidly reshape the placement of rooms, traps, and minions throughout the Dreadquarters.
The TTS Is Giving Players All The Feels
In case you missed it, we updated the Tabletop Simulator to include the Necromancer Deck. This gives you the chance to step into Dreadquarters and try the game before the campaign even ends. We've already seen some incredible feedback from players jumping in. Here's just one review:
After reading that, it gave us all the feels, too 🥹🥹🥹 which is honestly unacceptable. We are villains. There's no crying allowed here. Even the happy kind.
In all seriousness, if you've been on the fence, this is the perfect way to experience the game firsthand.
What's Next...
The next stretch goal ($56k) is a little, well, let's just say less defined. And for a reason. Basically, because it's going to be awesome. Let's just say maybe now is the time to start plotting your own brand of villainy.
